When it comes to addiction, the hardest part is admitting you have a problem. Accepting that you are addicted and need help is one of the most difficult things to do. Once you take that step, the next one is finding a suitable rehab center to attend.

Addiction treatment calls for the right rehab facility to help you along your recovery journey. Sometimes though, it may be difficult to find a rehab center that suits you or you may find that no rehab will take you. What do you do then?

If A Rehab Center Won’t Take You You Can:

  • Search in a different location.

Rehab facilities can be found all over the country. If no one will take you in one location, searching in a different location may be fruitful. Traveling for rehab may seem expensive, but don’t let that get in the way of your recovery. Attending rehab in a different town or state can get you away from negative influences, giving you the space you need to rebuild your life.

  • Get started with detoxification.

If you’re unable to get a place in a rehab, you can still get started with detoxification. Plenty of facilities offer detoxification services without necessarily providing an entire drug or alcohol addiction treatment program. As you wait for a place to open in rehab, you can purge your body of the harmful toxins of the drug through detox. This gives you a clear mind to determine the next steps to take.

  • Try online teletherapy.

After the pandemic, many rehabs started offering teletherapy sessions to clients. This way, you don’t have to physically attend any therapy or treatment sessions. You can do so from the comfort of your home and still receive the guidance and care you need.

  • Start making changes.

You don’t have to attend rehab to start making positive changes in your life. You can begin anytime you choose to. One good thing to do is to select a hobby or activity that occupies your mind and gives your life new meaning away from the addiction. This could be anything from taking up a sport to attending events in your local community.

  • Build up a support network.

Another key thing about beating addiction is to surround yourself with people who support your recovery. Your family may not be able to attend family therapy with you but you can still attend support group meetings e.g. with Alcohol Anonymous. This helps you lean on people who understand what you’re going through.
