UNDERSTANDING SUBSTANCE ABUSE
Effective Anxiety Treatment Available at Drug Rehab Centers
Anxiety disorders are a recognized class of mental health disorders that have become more widely accepted in modern society. This increased awareness has led to a more favorable perception of mental health concerns. There is now a better understanding of the common symptoms and the different types of anxiety disorders. According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), approximately 31.1% of American adults will experience an anxiety disorder at some point in their lives.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM V) is used by medical and mental health professionals to diagnose anxiety disorders. The DSM V classifies a variety of different conditions as anxiety disorders. The most common anxiety disorders include Panic Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Separation Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
While there may be similarities among different anxiety disorders, there are notable differences in the associated symptoms. For example, someone with PTSD may experience nightmares or flashbacks, whereas someone with OCD may struggle with obsessions and compulsions in their behavior. It is important to note that some individuals may not show obvious signs of anxiety that may be noticeable to others, while someone having a flashback could be quite clear.
To avoid confusion and misinformation regarding the different anxiety conditions, it is common practice to group them together when discussing them in various forms of media. The NIMH reported that from 2001 to 2003, there was a higher percentage of anxiety disorders among women compared to men. Adults between the ages of 30 to 44 had a slightly higher prevalence of anxiety disorders than 18 to 19 years old. Adults who were 60 years and older had the lowest rates of anxiety disorders. If you, or someone you know, are struggling with anxiety, a drug rehab center may offer effective treatment options.
We believe everyone has the ability to recover from anxiety & addiction.
Our drug and alcohol rehab center is on a mission to truly make a lasting impact on those affected by the disease of addiction in various cities.
I HIGHLY recommend allowing RAC to provide the care and tools for your lifelong sobriety. I love every individual there for giving me a new lease on life!
I had a very nice time. Community and staff are fantastic, beyond what was expected. I had lots of eye opening talks, learned recovery strategies, and had lots of fun with other people just like me. I am excited to move forward to another one of their programs!
I absolutely LOVED RAC, and all of the staff. I was absolutely terrified to go to rehab. But it has been such a warm and welcoming experience. Starting with my detox, all of the staff and nurses made sure of it my needs were met. The ARPN has been a God send. She makes sure you’re comfortable. I would recommend RAC to anyone who is ready to get the help they so much deserve.
The Robert Alexander center is wonderful place to recover from drugs and alcohol the detox portion of my recovery here was amazing I felt comfortable at all times. When I moved over to the residential side the group therapy and the individual therapy both did wonders for my self confidence and self worth. This place is a 10 out of 10 for anyone wanting to recover from drugs
My name is Jeff upon coming here you will feel anxious and worried about where you’re going and what you’re getting into. However you will be more than pleasantly surprised because the staff and other residence are great, the education you will get is outstanding and helpful. Just absorb it all and you will be better. Do not ama after a few days because it’s not your thing because it’s not your thing, it will become your thing if you let it. Good luck.
When to Get Help For Anxiety
So, where is that line between when our worries and fears become problematic? If you have found yourself asking that question, you may be at a point where you should check in with a mental health professional. To have a thought like this, you have likely noticed that something doesn’t feel right in your life.
Maybe you have noticed changes in your ability to function at work or school. Maybe you are beginning to realize how uneasy you feel in social situations, or in new places. Or it could be that you feel as though your mind is constantly running on overdrive. Anxiety will look different for everyone, even individuals who struggle with the same illness will have differences in their experience.
Other signs that you would benefit from talking to a mental health professional would be if your anxiety symptoms are getting in the way of your daily activities. This can include your ability to work, maintain proper hygiene, maintain relationships, and maintain a healthy lifestyle (i.e., diet and exercise).
Individuals who are having panic attacks should also check in with their doctor. An accumulation of symptoms such as an inability to concentrate, sleep disturbances, changes in appetite, irritability, and restlessness are also signs that you should reach out for help.

A Guide to Anxiety Treatment Centers
Anxiety treatment centers employ a range of techniques to assist with anxiety management, including psychotherapy, alternative therapies, and medication. Available services will be determined by the training and expertise of the treatment providers.
Psychotherapy is typically conducted one-on-one with a mental health professional such as a counselor. Several treatment methods have been proven to be effective for anxiety, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Medication recommendations will depend on your symptoms. Certain anxiety medications are known to be addictive if not taken as directed. If you have a history of substance abuse, your doctor is likely to recommend non-addictive medications. Alternative therapies can be used alongside counseling and medication or independently. Recommended practices for managing anxiety often include yoga, meditation, and stress management. It’s important to note that there are a variety of meditation types available, including guided meditation. The objective of meditation is not to eliminate thoughts but to develop comfort with them.

THE TREATMENT YOU DESERVE
The Robert Alexander Center’s Anxiety Treatment Can Help
At the Robert Alexander Center, we provide integrated dual-diagnosis treatment for individuals struggling with addiction and co-occurring anxiety disorders. Our programs are designed to address substances such as alcohol, opioids, cocaine, and heroin, while also treating underlying mental health conditions through personalized, evidence-based care.
We offer multiple levels of treatment, including Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and outpatient programs, each tailored to different stages of recovery. PHP provides structured daytime therapy with group, individual, and family sessions, while IOP and outpatient care offer greater flexibility for those transitioning back to daily life. Throughout all levels of care, we focus on identifying negative thought patterns, building healthy coping skills, and improving emotional regulation.
To support stability outside of treatment, we also offer sober living options for clients who need a safe, structured environment. Our programs are inclusive and include specialized care for men, women, professionals, and LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring each person receives appropriate support for their needs.
Family involvement is also a key part of recovery, with programming designed to educate loved ones, rebuild trust, and strengthen support systems. If you have questions about treatment options, our team is available to help guide you through the next steps in your recovery journey.
